Lights! Camera! and …. ACTION!
ATLANTA,GA::Three words often utilized by professional film directors in the film industry. However, John P Wheatley, has created his own signature phrases, look, and style in the music and film industries. Mr. Wheatley’s cool demeanor and confident attitude, along with a welcoming smile is the recipe for success for this U.S. Virgin Islands native, whom have traveled the world, working for the likes of Wyclef Jean,Kanye West, Jamie Fox, and mentor Robert Townsend.
FROM ADVERSITY COMES STRENGTH
John shared the story about missing a half of one credit, to graduate from high school in 1998, however upon his return the following semester, he was encouraged to take an elective class, which ironically was “Drama”. He credits this class experience, as the foundation of his passion for the film industry. He later fulfilled his dream and walked with the Class of 1999, from the Charlotte Amalie High School, with the skills which have changed his life today.
COOL, CONFIDENT, ORDINARY GUY
If you past John Wheatley in the hustle and bustle of an international airport, you may be shock to realize that he doesn’t carry any heavy equipment, often seen in much film productions. His main camera..is a camera! Yes! After joining John and his team, on the video set of International DJ Benny D, I was looking for the video camera, and inquired why was he taking so many still shots with a photo camera. He shared that he was actually filming with that small camera. Mr Wheatley is a big technology fan, and stands on the brink of new development in the growing film industry in Atlanta, Georgia, where he calls home.

Writer,Song Writer,Producer,and Former DJ, are some tittles associated with this film director. With over 10 years of experience, John shared the facts about supporting entrepreneurs, and the Hollywood glass ceiling. However, he enjoy telling stories along with working in television, and creating his own independent films.

Mr Wheatley was worked with BET, TV ONE, Black Family Television,Oscar Award winner Monique “Monique Show”, Reggae Artist Pressure, Akon’s DJ Benny D, TV One Tom Joyner, and the Real House Wives of Atlanta. John is currently working on several up-coming projects with TV One and a featured film in June 2012. Although his success has carried him around the world, he shared his aspiration to developing a better community in his hometown of St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands, through technology and real estate development. He will return this April to film the 60th anniversary of USVI Carnival.
